The theme of the month: 'Be part of the solution'

Week33Kicking the habit! Developing low carbon habits (3)
8.4.3 – Start being an eco-tourist

Be an eco-tourist! Support eco-tourism to help sustain and protect the natural and cultural beauty of the places and features that fascinate travelers worldwide.

The green habits you have taken up in your daily life do not need to be broken when you are traveling. Each year, the hospitality industry spends approximately US$3.7 billion on energy and a typical hotel uses 825 litres of water per day per occupied room. By extending your good water and energy saving habits (e.g. only have towels and bed linens changed and washed when needed; turn off lights and TV when you leave the room), you could help a lot. Moreover, whether you are visiting a natural feature or a cultural heritage, always respect it by treasuring and protecting it and its surroundings. While you won’t take anything away, it’s also respectful to not leave any waste behind.
